Welcome to Amanda Bernardo's Fundraising Page
Thank you for supporting my journey to fight Alzheimer’s disease in honour of my grandmother, Teresina Bernardo.
At a young age, Alzheimer’s diseases stripped me from a relationship with my grandmother. Living oceans apart, it was nearly impossible to maintain a relationship with someone who could no longer remember your name, nor the words that once made up the sum of her life. And yet, in spite of the struggles my grandmother faced and continues to face, she has to this day been an incredible source of inspiration and strength in my life.
When I set out to write Little Voice, I knew I wanted to donate a portion of each book sale to the Alzheimer Society. It was my way of giving back, of raising awareness for Alzheimer's disease, and of honouring my grandmother. Since December 2014, Little Voice has donated close to $7,000 dollars in support of Alzheimer's research, programs, and services.
There are days I wish I could pick up the phone and share with my grandmother all that I have accomplished in her name, and while Alzheimer's disease has taken that away from me, it will never be able to stop me from continuing to advocate on behalf of all those living with this disease.
The Walk for Alzheimers is another opportunity for Little Voice to give back and I can’t thank you enough for your support in this journey. I continue to be committed to participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s because the Alzheimer Society provides such essential programs and services that work to effectively alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias within our community. I know our combined fundraising efforts will go such a long way and therefore ask you to join me not only in walking but also in fundraising for this important cause.
By making a donation, you are helping the Alzheimer Society to continue its important work towards a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Thank you again for your kind and generous support,
