I, along with my family, am committing once again to the Walk for Alzheimer's. Let's end this disease!
My mom, Connie Dix, was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's in January 2015, no 28 year old expects to have a parent with Alzheimer's. Thankfully the Alzheimer's society was there for my family, to give us classes on where Alzheimer's comes from and how to work together to take the best care of her and keep her home as long as we could.
In June of 2018, my family came to the not so light decision to place my mom in a care facility on the west end of Edmonton. With her being so close to my childhood home, we are able to bring her to all of our family events. Even though she no longer knows why she is there or who we all are, it's still nice to have her around and to make those memories.
My mom was always there for me, giving me hugs when I needed them and always showing me the utmost care and compassion, something we will continue to provide to her.
I am hoping you will join me in my fight, either by donating to the cause, or participating with me in my walk (or a walk in your own town/city). Together, we can put this disease to and end.
