On Sunday, May 25th, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's, in Kelowna BC will raise awareness and funds in support of the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s programs and services, as well as enabling dementia research.

The Walk is the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s largest fundraising event, hosted in more than 20 communities across the province and a way to honour and remember people affected by dementia.

There are currently an estimated 85,000 people living with dementia in B.C. and nearly half a million across the country. This number is expected to double in the next 15 years.

With your help, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. can continue its vital work supporting people living with dementia, their caregivers and their families.

Our loving dad and nonno Ubaldo Vagnarelli was diagnosed with dementia in his final years following the passing of our dear mother and nonna Elena in 2011.  

In caring for him as he was living with dementia, both Sonia and I saw him talk about and remember many things in his life as a young boy in Gubbio, his life in Italy with his family, brothers and sister, his journey to Canada to start a new life, his work as a carpenter and kitchen installer, and his love of his wife Elena and his daughters.  When he began struggling to remember names or remember what had happened the day before, he would still smile or laugh and respond with "forget about it!".  

We miss our dear dad and nonno Ubaldo every day since his passing in April 2023.  Please consider donating to a BC society dedicated to helping those living with dementia and to providing programs for caregivers who are supporting and trying to keep their loved ones happy and safe.
