Welcome to my Participant Page!
Last year, I shared that I carry the APOE3/4 gene variant, which increases the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
While it doesn’t mean I will develop it, it’s a powerful reminder that our health and time are not to be taken for granted.
Alzheimer’s is a heartbreaking disease that continues to affect more families each year.
That’s why I’ve supported the Alzheimer Society of B.C. through the annual Walk—and continue to do so today, even though I won’t be able to join the walk in person this year.
Instead, I’ll be in Belgium, visiting my parents and running the race “20kms of Brussels.”
It is a meaningful run for me.
Years ago, I quit this race in frustration when I couldn’t hit a specific time goal.
Running with 45,000 people around you has a way of slowing you down and I did not know how to manage that kind of crowd.
This time, I’m returning with a different mindset: no expectations, no pressure, just gratitude for the ability to run, to move, and to be here.
I’ll be dedicating my run to some dear clients of mine who passed away far too young—not from Alzheimer’s, but from other causes that remind us how fragile and precious life is.
I will be running in memory of those clients and friends who didn’t get to do all the things they dreamed of.
That’s why I’m using this run to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and to encourage all of us to live with urgency and intention.
As I often say: “One Life. Keep Sending.”
That means pushing yourself to do the things that make you feel truly alive, while you can.
In addition to supporting the Alzheimer Society, I’ll also be matching whatever amount we raise together and contributing that to my foundation, which supports a variety of meaningful causes.
If this message resonates with you, I’d be honored if you’d support this effort.
Every donation helps families facing Alzheimer’s and brings us one step closer to better treatments—and one day, a cure.
Let’s keep sending it—for those who can’t.
