Five years ago, my dad, Trevor, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. It’s something you never expect to hear about someone you love, and it’s a journey that has changed our family in ways we never could have imagined.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed  it affects everyone who loves them. It slowly changes the moments, memories, and conversations you once took for granted. It’s heartbreaking to watch someone who has always been such an important part of your life face a disease that takes so much.

That’s why this walk means so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful that my friends and family are joining me as part of this team to walk in honor of my dad. Having their support beside me means everything, and together we’re walking not only for him, but for every family facing this disease.

We are walking to raise awareness, support the families who are going through this same journey, and help fund the programs, care, and research that the Alzheimer Society provides. The work they do makes a real difference for people living with dementia and for the loved ones supporting them every day.
