I am raising funds in honour of my husband, Robert.
Robert was diagnosed with bvFTD a year ago. Fronto Temporal Dementia, behavioural variant. It is likely he has had this for 10+ years. Very little is known about bvFTD and it has been a struggle. The Psychologist was awesome. BUT, We were handed a booklet and told to come back in about a year. And had to find a family Doctor .
It is extremely close to Alzheimer’s, but without the initial memory loss. There isn’t a treatment for it (no meds), it progresses faster than Alzheimer’s and is terminal. Alzheimer’s Society has been front and center with guiding me through the medical system. Without them, I would have been lost and not have been able to push for his help. Sadly, he does not think he has a disease which makes it harder to get him the help he needs.

On Sunday, May 31, I’m participating in the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon’s largest fundraising event – the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, presented by Go Auto. The Walk provides an opportunity for communities to take action to change the future for the more than 85,000 British Columbians living with dementia and the people who care for them.
With your help, the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon can continue its vital work. Please consider donating in support of my walk.
