On May 25th, I’m walking for the Alzheimer’s Society in honour of my dad, Ed Hepting, who passed away in January after living with dementia for over six years.
Our team name is Chicken — a nod to a family joke he loved. Anytime someone ate chicken, someone would yell “CHICKEN!” and the whole table would follow. It was silly, and it was him.
Dementia is heartbreaking, but my dad never lost his humour or warmth. I’m walking to honour him and support others still going through it.
