On May 31st, I’m walking with Team Chicken for the Alzheimer Society in honour of my dad, Ed Hepting, who passed away in January 2025 after living with dementia. This will be my second year walking in his honour.
Our team name, Chicken, comes from a family joke he
loved. Anytime someone ate chicken, someone would yell
“CHICKEN!” and the whole table would join in. It was silly,
loud, and completely him.
Dementia is heartbreaking, but my dad never lost his
humour or warmth. Caring for him changed my life,
deepened my passion for helping seniors, and inspired me
to go back to school to become a dementia specialist.
I’m walking to honour him and support other families
going through this journey.
Please consider donating — or join Team Chicken and
walk with me.
CHICKEN!!!
With love and gratitude,
Anita
