My dad, Jack Coumont, is my biggest reason for participating in this walk.
In 2021, my dad suffered a mini stroke that triggered dementia. He also faces mobility challenges, so life is not always easy, but if you know my dad, you know that he is one of the strongest people around.
He is tough as nails, has the best sense of humour, and is still cracking hilarious jokes and making everyone laugh. He loves country music, a good beer, and telling some of the wildest stories you’ve ever heard. He has always been a fighter, and he continues to face this disease every single day with strength, grit, and determination.
No matter what, he will always be the incredible man who raised me and someone I will always look up to.
On Sunday, May 31, I will be participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in support of the more than 85,000 British Columbians living with dementia and the people who care for them.
I am walking to honour my dad, to remember the friends and family members we have lost to dementia, and to support all the families who are navigating this journey right now. Funds raised help provide essential programs, education, support services, and critical research to improve the lives of those affected and move us closer to a cure.
Thank you so much for supporting me and this cause that means so much to me and my family.
