"If the onset of Alzheimer's/dementia could be delayed by 10 years, over 4 million new cases could be avoided by 2050."

There are currently more than 12,000 people in New Brunswick living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, and behind each of them stands a small army of friends, family and caregivers. While our ultimate vision is a world without dementia, that vision begins with a world where people living with the disease are welcomed, acknowledged and included.

By supporting my fundraising for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's, you are providing Help for Today by making sure people affected by dementia continue to have access to the support, education and information offered by the Alzheimer Society of NB. You also provide Hope for Tomorrow by supporting Canadian researchers working to prevent, detect, treat and care for people living with dementia.

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is Canada's biggest fundraiser for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, taking place in more than 400 communities across the country.

These funds will go toward local programs and services that improve quality of life for people living with dementia and their families in your community and support awareness and education about dementia.

When I walk, I am sending a message of hope to Canadians living with dementia, and thousands more who care for them. When I fundraise, I am promising them that help will always be available.

Therefore, once again, I am participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s on May 25th to support the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.

As most of you know my family history, I do this each year to support my family and others who live every day with Alzheimer's and dementia. My family has been affected by Alzheimer's many times. My immediate family of 10 has seen 7 members lost due to this horrible disease. For those of you who have a friend or relative who is suffering with Alzheimer's or dementia, you can understand how heartbreaking it is to watch your family member disappear before your eyes.
