I’m participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Saint John May.31st in honour of my father, David Hewey, who continues to battle this horrible disease.
Our father was diagnosed with semantic Variant Primary Progressive, Aphasia (svPPA) a subtype of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) 2 years ago. We noticed subtle changes 2 years before his official diagnosis, slight behavioural changes, mostly word finding within conversations. Every day is different with him now and it never gets easier to watch someone who was so full of life and love slowly vanish before your eyes. We love him dearly and enjoy spending his good days with him.
