Dementia is a condition near and dear to my heart. It impacts so many lives in different ways- for me, this is through my family and my studies.
My Mummu (grandmother) has advanced Alzheimer's, and my Granny (great-grandmother) recently passed away with Mixed Dementia. Their diagnoses, progression, and unwavering smiles through it all inspired my curiosity about dementia, leading me to pursue my graduate studies on the topic.
I walk in memory of my Granny, Mary Long (Jolie; Hotchkiss), and in honour of my Mummu, Doris Larsen.
