I have witnessed first hand, the effect dementia has had on my loved ones, both of those diagnosed and those caring for those diagnosed . Trying to remind myself, this is not them this is the dementia. Holding on to the memories I have of them before their diagnosis. Realizing at the end of the day, life is too short and quality of life is priority.
My experience working in healthcare has continued to show me the effects dementia has on individuals and their loved ones within the community. It made me realize the importance of education in relation to acceptance and understanding.
Because of this I decided to raise funds for the Alzheimers Society! The proceeds go towards the growing demand for programs and services for those affected by dementia, making the disease more managable and allowing for all to live life to the fullest.
Thank you for supporting me in raising awareness and funds.
In loving memory of my grandfather, Roy.
