Picture this: a group of us, affectionately dubbed Helen's Lost & Found Walkers, are gearing up for the Walk for Alzheimer's in Halifax on May 26, 2024

Let us introduce you to the star of our show—none other than Helen MacKenzie. She's a sweet mother and grandmother, known far and wide for her infectious spirit, loud laugh and amazing children! But here's the kicker: Helen, in her 60s, has been dealing with a diagnosis of Vascular Dementia / Early Alzheimer's. And let us tell you, she's a trooper. She's walking not just for herself, but for her family, her parents, her friends and everyone else in the ring with this wily opponent.

You see, Helen can't stop singing the praises of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Their programs? Free and oh-so-helpful. And that's why we're strutting our stuff—raising awareness, bringing in donations, and having a blast while we're at it. Because let's face it, dementia's no joke, but a little humour goes a long way. 

This event isn't just about the money (though every penny counts) it's about: 

• raising awareness for the countless Nova Scotians affected by dementia. 
• sharing knowledge on managing Alzheimer's and reducing risk factors is just as crucial as collecting donations.
