Our team is raising money in support of the Alzheimer Society by participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's in Oakville on May 24th 2025.

This year, I’m participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s for the very first time — and I’m walking in honour of my father, Ramchand Kalawon. He was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2021. While he may no longer remember the remarkable life he has lived, I remember. I remember his stories, his laughter, his strength, his sacrifices — and the many lives he has touched along the way.

One of my favourite writers once said, “If you’re going to live, leave behind a legacy. Make an impact on the world that can never be erased.”  I have lost count of how many people have told me that my father made a lasting difference in their lives. So, as I thought about how to celebrate his 80th birthday this year, I chose to honour him — not with a gift, but with purpose.

So on his birthday, my sister Sonia and I created NeuroForce Alliance, a small but passionate team, and registered for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia do more than steal memories — they can leave people feeling isolated, disconnected, and alone. That sense of abandonment is one of the most painful parts of this journey, for both those living with the disease and those who love them.

I walk to break that silence.
I walk to say: You are not forgotten.

I walk to keep my father’s story alive — and to help ensure that others living with dementia feel seen, valued, and supported. I walk to raise awareness, to spark compassion, and to push forward toward better care, better research, and ultimately, a cure.

I walk to celebrate his spirit — and the beautiful legacy he continues to leave behind. Even as his memories fade, I carry them with me, each one a light that keeps his essence shining.
