I’m participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Brantford on May 25, 2024 to help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services. These and other resources make all the difference in the way that people affected by dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.  Below is the story behind the face.

My brother-in-law Harris was like a father to me.  I can’t tell you the journey my sister, Wilda, has been through, I didn’t walk in her shoes. But I can tell you what I have seen through her stories and my visits. Traveling home to visit, we look forward to the card games, laughs and stories of the past. Harris through the years was able to keep his independence for many years in support of a loving wife, family, and friends. There were good days and bad days, but he was one of the lucky ones to be at home to the end. Watching the interaction between them, my heart felt love. There were many tears behind the scenes and to keep a strong front as Harris’ journey was coming to an end.

I want to thank Alzheimer Society.  They gave me the education and help to support my family through that rough time.
