Hey! Thanks for stopping in! I am happy to welcome you to my walk fundraising page and explain to you a little bit about my 'Why?'. 

Despite the alarming statistics surrounding Alzheimers and Dementia (*cough, cough, in Canada, 350 people are diagnosed with Dementia every day; by 2030, almost 1M Canadians will have Dementia), this is only a small snippet as to why I choose to walk. If you know me, you know there are a few things I am passionate about (passionate MAY be an understatement): dogs, sports, family, and Alzheimers awareness. My passion for this particular space has led me to walk quite a few times over the years and to also volunteer for the association. 

This passion started as I have had a few family members directly impacted by this horrible, degenerative disease. Watching these individuals (Grandpa, Nanny and Cousin) lose their cognitive ability is heartbreaking, and seeing those who care so deeply for them witness this is something I would not wish upon anyone. 

Research into this space is paramount so we can continue to find ways to mitigate the onset and its symptoms, support those caregivers when they need it most, and simply, change the startling statistics. Therefore, I hope (if you're able) you will support me (and Covi) in our Walk for Alzheimer's this May. Any little bit helps.
