We remember them and we remember for them....
I am walking for my parents....Ken and Barb.
They met on a farm as children in Campbellford. They married, moved to Scarborough, and had three daughters. They were married for more than fifty years. And, those three daughters gave them five grandchildren, two boys and three girls. They missed weddings and babies and more babies...and they were missed. We lost them too early...
I have been the child, the parent, and the caregiver, most of it while juggling a career, raising two children and a husband, and struggling to carry out life's everyday activities and caring for sometimes one or two or three parents needing assistance.
I am now in the very rewarding position of helping those finding themselves on that same road. I work with a wonderful group of caring and compassionate people, striving to counsel, help where they are able, and just be there for those living with dementia and the people who love them.
I walk in memory of my parents, for my husband, my children, and grandchildren...but I also walk for those experiencing dementia in Durham Region - that they are able to live their best lives, and for the tomorrows and whatever that may bring....
Life is never perfect but my hope is that with the help of my fundraising efforts I am able to play a role in paving an easier road for those impacted by dementia.
I am incredibly thankful for your support!
