“It’s not something you get over, but it’s something you get through”

These words are from a song co-written by Willy Nelson, and they typify the life of someone coping with a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s.

When my wife went into long-term care, I needed help to deal with the stress and the grief.

The Alzheimer society provides programs that helped with coping, but they come at cost.

One of their main fund raisers to offset these costs is the annual walk.

I’ve been participating since 2018. My wife passed away a couple of years ago, but I’ll continue to take the walk knowing the funds raised will help others to cope with their stress and grief.

I annually put aside my pride and send e-mails asking for support for this cause.

On Saturday May 24 I'll be taking the walk for Alzheimer's again this year, despite bad knees, bad back, and hopefully not bad weather.
