I first participated in the Alzheimer's Walk for Memories in 2002 in memory of my Dad who died at the young age of 71.  It is sad that as the years go by my memories of him seem to fade.  I love sharing his memory with my kids, looking at old photos and re-watching poor quality videos just to hear his voice.  This year, more than any other, I have already worked with beautiful families, just like mine, helping them help their loved ones with dementia, change and mobility difficulties. 

Something (maybe my Dad in heaven) compelled me to join the walk again this year.  Times are tough, with a high cost of living, fear of the unknown and waiting lists for caregiver relief and long term care.  The Alzheimer's Society has tremendous compassion, counselling, programs and resources to help families navigate this very difficult journey.  They were there for us 20+ years ago and have only grown stronger.
