Our family's journey began with the Alzheimer's Society in 2016 when my Mom, Carol, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. They provided immeasurable support to my family and specifically to my Dad, Brian, who was Mom's primary caregiver.
Both Dad and Mom came to value the group at ASDR greatly, not only for their expert advice but also for their empathy.
After Mom passed away in 2020, Dad remained active with the Alzheimer's
Society both in the support groups and in various roles as a volunteer
until he passed away early in 2023.
I know the positive impact the Alzheimer's Society of Durham Region had
on my family. I'm walking to help them to continue to make this positive
impact on people living with Alzheimer's.
