Our team is participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Whitby on Saturday, May 25th to help raise money for the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region and show support for our beloved matriarch, Maria Karcich. We participated last year and were very excited to help raise over $100,000 for Alzheimer support in Durham Region! 

Throughout her life, Maria was dedicated in providing support for those who have experienced hardship. You would frequently find her volunteering at places like St. Vincent's Kitchen, delivering sacraments to the sick, or participating in parish events. Not only did she contribute to her community, she is a model mother, Nonna, and Bisnonna. Outside of volunteering for the betterment of society, she could be found dedicating her remaining time to her family.

Our family has decided to carry on her legacy through the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region, as Alzheimer Disease directly impacts her and so many others who (in the past) were able to contribute so positively to their families and communities. This is our second year taking part in the walk, and we encourage all to talk part and/or join our our team. 

There are nearly 12,000 people living with dementia in Durham Region, many of whom turn to the Alzheimer Society for support. Funds raised from the Walk will help provide counselling, support groups, education and social recreation programs for all those impacted by dementia in our community.
