Walking for Memories - Lynda Moore
On May 24th, my grands and I will be participating in the annual walk for Azheimer's. Bill's dementia journey ended in November 2019 after more than 12 years. For many, however the journey is just beginning. For others it is in the uncertain in-between stage. During our journey, Bill and I benefitted immensely from the programs and services provided by Alzheimers Kingston. In his memory (and he would have loved that pun so much!), I want to make sure these services remain available to others dealing with their own losses of memory, reason and skilll.
Right now more than half a million Canadians are living with some sort of dementia including Alzheimer's Disease. This number is expected to grow to a million by 2031! Fundraising events and other resources make all the difference in the way that people affected by dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.
With my fellow traveller Marty Jordan, I will once more be participating as one of Team Happy Wanderers. I would welcome your support and encouragement--with "attagirls" or donations, as your circumstances allow. You can donate to me or the team using the links below.
Please join us in our effort to raise the funds needed to maintain and grow support programs and bring light into the dark places of the dementia journey.
