We are, again, walking in support of the Alzheimer Society despite the fact that mom has not utilized their services in several years.
As you know, we’re a family who copes with life and what it brings our way. However, without the support of the Alzheimer Society our journey with dementia would have been a very rocky road. The Alzheimer Society has not only helped us navigate this road, but has enabled us to appreciate and enjoy the many special moments along the way. We’ll never forget how mom would light up like a Christmas tree when we told her she was going to one of the programmes. She referred to the Alzheimer Society as a refuge or a haven; a place where she was safe to relax and be herself. We, too, benefitted from the services offered.
We can never repay the Society for everything they did for us. So, please help us pay it forward. Six degrees of separation does not apply to dementia. Please remember that it is the fastest growing health care issue of our time. Please help the Alzheimer Society to continue to help so many the way they have helped Ernee and her kids.
