Thank you for supporting me in raising awareness and funds that will make a difference in the lives of people living with Alzheimers and various forms of dementia, their caregivers and families.
This year’s walk has just taken on a new dimension as my family mourns the loss of a faithful husband, father, papa and great papa.
I am participating in my 4th IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in St. Thomas on Sunday May 31st in memory of my dad, who passed away May 8th. Dad’s journey is over but many more are suffering from this awful disease.. I participate to raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services that are vital to those impacted by the challenges the disease poses for the patient as well as the caregivers. . These and other resources make all the difference in the way that people affected by dementia and their caregivers are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.
Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some of my favourite moments, thoughts and struggles that have come about as a result of this disease on my Facebook page. Of course my prayer would be that we could go back and not have to go on this journey, but now that it’s over and I reflect, I did find joy from a simple smile or a chuckle or a few words that Dad offered during one of my visits. That was what he could offer and it was a win for me.
