Hello Friends and Family,

Last fall, I once again volunteered with the Alzheimer's Society of Muskoka. This time I worked with the Recreation Support Facilitator for the Muskoka region. Each week we met with clients and their caregivers at a local church where we engaged in conversation and friendly visiting. Once a month we also met with a group of clients only at a local community centre where we played games like Crokinole and Qwirkle together. It was a lot of fun! I also helped in the office with administrative tasks which I have always enjoyed.

Having just returned from three months in Estero, Florida, it is now almost time for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's again. I am registered for the Bracebridge walk which takes place on Sunday, May 25th. The walk is the Alzheimer's Society's largest and primary fundraiser. It is also the largest fundraising event for dementia in Canada.

 I sincerely hope you will help me in my goal to raise funds for people living with dementia in Muskoka and Parry Sound.  Projections show that by 2050 the number of Canadians living with Alzheimer's disease will triple from 650,000 to over 1.7 million people.  The time to act is now.   Many of us have been touched by dementia in some way, whether through a family member, friend or colleague.  The Walk for Alzheimer's provides a platform to honour their memory, show solidarity, and connect with those facing the challenges of this disease.
