Thank you for supporting me in raising awareness and funds that will make a difference in the lives of people living with dementia, their caregivers and families.

I’m participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Bracebridge on May 25th to help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services. These and other resources make all the difference in the way that people affected by dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.  

On a personal note, I am dedicating this year's walk to my friend Margaret Smith from Port Sydney but now hospitalized with dementia.  Margaret's daughter and my daughter have been best friends since early childhood so Margaret and I grew close because of them.  Now when I visit her in the hospital, she no longer knows me but she still appreciates my visits.  I hate how this disease has robbed her of much of her wonderful caring ways. We can no longer share stories about our children and grandchildren or laugh at old times together.  I can tell her stories but they are soon forgotten as are my visits.  I wish that she could know how much I still care about her.
