Welcome to my Participant Page!
I'm participation in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's in Stratford on May 30 to help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer's Society.
This year I am walking in honour and memory of so many wonderful family and friends. Ome Arie who passed away from complications due to Alzheimers. Our family friend, Anne B who did my Mom's hair at her wedding 68 years ago and remains her friend, even if she forgets her visits. My Aunt, who is quite well...except for the days when she doesn't remember some things. Cecelia, who still remembers her family and takes great joy in seeing them but will likely forget having seen them. Louise, who was always strong and hid her memory loss well....until she couldn't. I even walk for the lady whose name I don't know....we had a lovely chat one day. She told me straight out that she wouldn't remember our conversation but it was nice to visit anyway. What I always respect, and honour with the Alzheimer's Walk, is courage! The courage needed both by those afflicted with various forms of Dementia and by those who support them.
Many of those I know dealing with dementia are lucky, not in their illness, but in that they have loving, wonderful families who are there to support them in any way they can. Not everyone is as lucky and for those we are grateful for the support the Alzheimer's society offers. They are there for all those suffering from the many, many forms of memory loss and for their families and friends. Their programs, supports and resources make all the difference in the way people affected by dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.
I am so grateful for whatever donation you can make. No matter how small or big, you are making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Select the Donate Now button to be part of the difference.
Thank you, as always, for your generous commitment and support.
Antoinette
