It’s hard to believe that our first Walk for Alzheimer’s was four years ago, and our Alzheimer’s journey began just under five years ago. Yet life before Alzheimer’s seems like such a distant memory.

We fight to keep living our lives, and keep her life, as “normal” as possible. At the same time we struggle to let go of the anger and grief that comes from dwelling on all of the years and life she will miss.

All too soon there will be more memories forgotten than made. More bad days than good. More tears than laughter. More words and abilities will be lost. There will come a time when she forgets our names, when she forgets who we are. We feel helpless watching her slip away and knowing we can’t do anything to stop it.
