I've been walking for the Alzheimer's Society Sarnia Lambton for several years now, and every year the reason feels more personal.
My grandma Helen passed away three years ago at 96 years old. She was fiercely independent well into her 90s, and then suddenly, everything changed. In the last few years of her life, she moved in with my parents, and I had the privilege of being close by through all of it.
Living alongside that experience showed that Alzheimer's doesn't just happen to one person. It changes the daily life of every single person who loves them. Caregiving is one of the hardest things a family can take on emotionally, physically, and mentally.
What made it possible for my grandma to spend the end of her life at home was the support she received from the Alzheimer's Society. The PSWs, the day programs, and the resources.
That's exactly what your donation supports. Every dollar raised stays right here in Sarnia-Lambton community to fund local programs, care workers, and families who are navigating this the same way mine did.
I'm walking in the and Sarnia on May 31st. If you can donate, thank you! And if you want to walk together for this cause, please join my team!
