Hi everyone! On May 31, 2026, I will once again be participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. This cause remains incredibly close to my heart, as I’ve lost two influential women in my life—my Nonna and my aunt Fidia—to this disease.
In my role as Manager, Clinical Services with the Alzheimer Society, I have the privilege every day of seeing the meaningful impact our programs and services have on people living with dementia and their care partners. Our goal is to support individuals in living well with dementia, with programs centered on activation and socialization—two essential components of quality of life.
At the Alzheimer Society, we look beyond the diagnosis. We see each person for who they are and meet them exactly where they are on their journey.
This walk is especially meaningful because it raises local funds that directly support our community programs. Our Society provides many services for individuals and families navigating the Dementia Journey. These include cognitive testing to help identify possible dementia, as well as a range of supportive programs such as our Adult Day Program (a 6‑hour program for persons living with dementia, which in turn offers respite to care partners), Transition Support Program (assisting people moving from their homes into long‑term care), and our In‑Home Recreation Therapy Program (a 1‑hour in‑home activation session). We also offer social and support programs like Coffee Club, Walking Program, Get Crafty, care partner support groups, and grief groups. Without local fundraising and the generosity of community members like you, these essential programs would not be possible.
Thanks to your support and generous donations last year, I was able to raise over $1,000. This year, my goal is to reach $1,200—not only in memory of my Nonna and my aunt, but also in honour of the clients and families who rely on our programs and services. Many families, including my own, have been deeply affected by a dementia diagnosis.
If you’d like to support me in this year’s walk, you can donate online using the link provided. Every contribution, no matter the amount, is truly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your continued support!
