Around 1988 Norma Wickstead started to suffer the effects of dementia. In 2009 Bud McChesney began to loose his thoughts to what would become dementia. In 2012 Shirley Martel would begin to change due to dementia. Who are these people…Norma was my Nanny, Buddy was my uncle and Shirley my mom. This disease has affected my whole family literally for generations. I have watched and experienced loved ones lose their personalities and their connections with those closest to them. I have witnessed and experienced care giver burn out. I have lived sitting beside my mom when she had no idea who I was. I walk with my family, and for my family both past and present. So that in the near future we can find a cure.
