This is the first year that I will be participating in IG Wealth Management's Walk for Alzheimer's. Here is why I am walking. 6 years ago, my funny, silly, loving, forever dancing, always smiling Zia was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia as a result of early onset Alzheimer's. Having already fought through a breast cancer diagnosis - we thought there could be no worse. Were we ever wrong. We had no idea that we would rapidly lose my Zia to a disease so powerful that I can no longer call her on the phone. So powerful, that she came to my wedding, but didn't recognize me. So powerful, that I would do anything to go back to a time when she called me by my name. 

Until you have lost those things, you have no idea how powerful of a disease Alzheimer's really is. And I know I am not a alone. 

By walking on May 27 2023 my goal is to not only help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services, but to also raise awareness of this terrible disease. 

I will never forget the love and support my Zia gave my for all those years - now it's my time to support her!
