Our team is raising money in support of the Alzheimer Society by participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's in Toronto at Fort York on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

We are participating in the Walk this year because dementia is the fastest growing healthcare issue of our time. As more and more people are impacted there is an increasing demand for Alzheimer Society Toronto programs and services. Services that make all the difference in the way that people are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.

Mom has been one to benefit in some of the organized programs like museum tours, dance and movement, painting , baking and others. Activities that integrate them with other people and offer them purpose.

I personally have also benefited from their many sessions in learning how to communicate with a person with dementia, how to deal with behavioural issues and most importantly to remind me that it’s not mom but this illness that’s causing all the downward changes and to always put myself in her new world, not try to bring her back to what our world used to be.
