I've now been working at the Alzheimer Society of York Region for one year and I couldn't be more grateful to do what I do. In that time, the project I've done that I'm the proudest of would be running what we call our First Link Learning Series. In February and March, I was able to facilitate two 4-week series for people caring for someone in the early stages or mid stages of a dementia. Being able to lead discussion and share ideas and advice with these individuals has been the most impactful to me.
In addition to the work side of things, on February 3rd of this year, my mom's aunt Shirley passed after her battle with Alzheimer's disease. The end progressed quite quickly for her but I know she will be remembered positively and fondly. As well, my mom's mom (my Nana) is currently living with Alzheimer's disease. I will walk for both of them this year.
Donations made to my page will stay directly within my local society which means it will help fund the work I do educating the general public and care partners as well as the work my colleagues do like our Active Living Program, adult day programs, and social work support.
Thank you for whatever donation you can make. No matter how small or big, you are making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia. Select the button on the right to Donate Now!
Thank you again for your generous commitment and support.
