Our family is raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Walk in honour of my grandmother, “Yayi,” who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when I was only 8 years old.
Yayi helped raise me while my mom worked, and some of my most beautiful childhood memories are with her. I remember her as a happy, kind grandmother who loved spending time with me and had such a special connection to nature. During our outdoor walks, we would lift stones together looking for worms, listen to the birds, and admire every little creature we found. She loved all animals and appreciated the beauty in everything created by God.
Watching Alzheimer’s slowly take away someone so full of life has been heartbreaking for our family. Even through the difficult moments, we hold tightly to the memories of her warmth, laughter, and gentle spirit.
We miss our Yayi very much, and through this walk we hope to honour her life, raise awareness, and support families affected by this devastating disease. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
