Thank you for supporting me in raising awareness and funds that will make a difference in the lives of people living with dementia, their caregivers and families.

My mom will be 68 this year. She was a brilliant woman, formidable, and always hungry for knowledge. She lived life voraciously and revelled in the simple , beautiful things. She was passionate about growing things and was a phenomenal gardener. There was nothing she couldn’t do once she set her mind to it, but God help anyone who got in her way! Haha. Mom was diagnosed in April of 2021 with mid-stages Dementia. She was supposed to have at least 4 years of being in middle stages but in December 2021 she suffered what was called an acute break and declined far more rapidly than predicted. Within 9 months from her diagnosis she needed to be transferred to a home with specified care and within a year from her first transfer she had to be transferred to a locked facility where she declined even further. She is now in late stages dementia and has been for the last couple of years. My heart aches for her and for the life that is passing her by. 

I’m participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Regina on May 24th to help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services. These and other resources make all the difference in the way that people affected by dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.
