Thank you for walking with us

Thank You for Your Support

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s — participants, donors, volunteers, sponsors, families, and communities across Canada.

Together, you are helping raise critical funds and awareness to support people living with dementia and care partners through the programs, services, education, and support provided locally by Alzheimer Societies across the country.

The Walk once again brought together more than 150 communities across Canada around a shared goal: ensuring that no one has to face dementia alone.

Since 2015, together, we have raised more than $60 million — and there is still time to support your local Walk by making a donation.

Thank you for walking with us.

750,000 Canadians currently live with dementia. By 2050, nearly 2 million people living in Canada could be living with dementia.

Since 2015, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s has raised over $60M for people living with dementia and their care partners. Thank you for making a difference!

If the onset of dementia could be delayed by 10 years, over 4 million new cases of dementia could be avoided by 2050.

Legacy Walkers

Every step tells a story. Our Legacy Walkers have been part of the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's for five years or more, fundraising and walking with passion and purpose. We're proud to share their personal reasons for walking year after year, and we hope their stories inspire you to create your own legacy.

Why I Walk for Alzheimer's:

I walk for Alzheimer’s in memory of my sister, Regina, who was diagnosed in her late 40s with Young Onset Dementia and whose journey with the disease ended in 2021. Throughout her journey, I developed a special admiration for my sister because she tried to remain helpful and hopeful despite her diagnosis. She also had the foresight to see that the only way to end the stigma associated with dementia was to talk about it.

Why I Walk for Alzheimer's:

I walk for Alzheimer’s to honour Joanne, my partner of 37 years and her sister Mary Lou. I participated in my first walk in January of 2019, along with Joanne and some of our friends. Joanne and I took part in the walk each year, in real time and virtually during Covid until last year when she could no longer participate. I plan to continue to raise funds and walk each year.

Why I Walk for Alzheimer's:

I walk for Alzheimer’s to honour several of my family members that have had dementia, most especially my mom. She was a smart, kind, and loving woman. Her laughter lit up a room. When diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 47, my brother and I were teenagers. The Alzheimer’s Society was there to provide programs and essential guidance.
