My Participant Page: Ray & Muriel Lebeau
Welcome to my Participant Page!
I am sending you this letter to let you know that I will be participating in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's during the month of May. Muriel and I thank you for your continued support in raising funds and awareness that will make a difference in the lives of people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia.
Walkers will be participating in an 'in-person' IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s at the Alain Potvin Park in Rockland, ON, 25 May 2025. This walk will help raise money on behalf of the Alzheimer Society, so they can meet the growing demand for programs and services. These and other resources make a big difference in the way that people affected by Alzheimer's and other dementia are able to manage the disease and live life to the fullest.
Please help us to reach our goal of $10,000, by making a secure online donation at: walkforalzheimers.ca This will bring you to the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's home page. Once there, select Province, Ontario, and then choose a location Cornwall & District - Rockland Walk, then Sponsor a Walker (top right), type in Ray Lebeau, and then click on Donate Now.
Muriel and I sincerely appreciate your generous support.
Thank you for whatever donation you can make. No matter how small or big, you are making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia.
Thank you again for your friendship and for your generous support.
'Friends Forever'
A lot has changed since the 26 May 2024 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. Last year, Muriel was able to participate in the walk. On the 12th of August 2024, only a few short months later, she was admitted to the Saint Patrick’s Long Term Care Home on Riverside Drive in Ottawa. In my lifetime, this was the most difficult decision that I have ever had to make. I did not make this decision alone. Throughout this difficult journey, our daughters, Michelle, Danielle and Dana have been very caring, loving and supportive, and they helped me with their Mom’s transition to LTC. I know this heartbreaking experience has been extremely difficult for them as well.
On day one, when Muriel was admitted to Saint Patrick’s, our family met for an Information Session with the staff. One of them told me, Ray, when you leave here, I want you to take off your caregiver hat, and put on your husband hat. She told the same thing to our daughters, that they could put their daughter hats back on. She said, from now on, I want you to know that Muriel was going to be loved and cared for, by a team of trained professionals, in the best possible manner. Hearing this was very comforting. She said that when we come to visit, we can go back to spending quality time as a loving husband and as loving daughters.
In addition to our daughters and our faith, Muriel and I owe so much to the support services of the Alzheimer’s Society. Our family has been involved with them for going on ten years. During this difficult time, their assistance and guidance in how to confidently move forward have been invaluable. Even though Muriel has now moved in to long term care, I still participate in the Alzheimer’s Support Group Meetings. These informative meetings provide a safe place to share frustrations and heartaches. As well as picking up practical tips, they provide a forum for learning coping skills. And you can never have enough of them.
