We are participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 in honour of our parents, Brian and Carol Harris. Our family’s involvement with the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham Region (ASDR) began in 2016 with Mom’s diagnosis. The programs and support available for our mother were a blessing and Dad was able to find support being her primary care taker. Even though we, unfortunately, lost Mom in May of 2020, our involvement with the ASDR did not end at that time. Dad continued with the Men’s Breakfast Group and supported others that were going through what he had gone through with Mom. The whole family participated in the Walk for Alzheimer’s in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in honour of Mom. We wanted to be able to support others in our communities that would benefit from the ASDR and their programs and support groups.

We are continuing Dad’s mission to help others through the ASDR. Dad was committed to the ASDR and he was so grateful for everything the organization has done for our family. We are honoured to have had the support from the ASDR for not only our Mom, but for our Dad as well. Raising funds and participating in the Walk for Alzheimer’s is just one way we can pay it forward to others which is the best way we can honour our parents.
