Every step
Every memory

Why Do We Walk?

We walk to share hope with people living with dementia and their caregivers. We walk to make sure vital programs, services, and education are available in our communities. We walk because every step we take together brings us closer to a future where no one faces dementia alone.

Join the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, Canada’s largest fundraiser supporting dementia care, taking place on May 30 and 31, 2026, in over 150 communities across the country.

Funds raised support local programs delivered by Alzheimer Societies across Canada, providing essential services for those impacted by dementia. With more than 700,000 Canadians currently living with dementia—and nearly one million projected by 2030—the need is urgent.

Together, we’ve raised over $50 million—let’s keep going.

Fundraising Goal

700,000 Canadians currently live with dementia. By 2050, nearly 2 million people living in Canada could be living with dementia.

Since 2015, the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s has raised over $50M for people living with dementia and their care partners. Thank you for making a difference!

If the onset of dementia could be delayed by 10 years, over 4 million new cases of dementia could be avoided by 2050.

Legacy Walkers

Every step tells a story. Our Legacy Walkers have been part of the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's for five years or more, fundraising and walking with passion and purpose. We're proud to share their personal reasons for walking year after year, and we hope their stories inspire you to create your own legacy.

I’ve been working at the Alzheimer Society of NB... organizing the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s. In the past I walked for my uncles and my aunts, but this year everything changed when my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s... our goal is to help him live well and create beautiful memories... I know he will never forget the way we made him feel, and he will continue to hold our memories in his heart.

I participated in my very first walk in 1999 when I was 13 years old... my Grandfather passed away and I wanted to do something to honour his memory and raise awareness... in 2022 I was honoured to participate with my daughter who was just 5 days old... I am proud to continue supporting our local organization that does so much for the members... living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

When I was in my 20’s my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia. Many years later my husband Bob developed vascular dementia... my mom Margaret developed dementia... my second husband Don was diagnosed with dementia. I have had so much dementia in my life. So I walk every spring with my canine friend Joey. And will continue to do so, until I can’t.
